Saturday night Hannah had six girlfriends spend the night. I planned a craft for them which I really enjoyed myself. Mainly because it was cheap and easy. I bought heart-shaped doilies at Dollar Tree; some Valentine themed ribbon for $1.00 a roll at Big Lots and I had all the other materials like paper, printer and imagnation.
I looked up quotes for Valentine's day and printed them out for inspriation. None of the girls used them. I printed out small pink hearts to fit on the doilies and they decorated those with names of family members, or their own Valentines message. We glued the hearts to the doilies and then ran a ribbon through creating a very pretty garland.
This is the first one I made for a sample. You can see I handwrote the quote. I don't have the greatest handwriting.
I continued to think of other ways to improve the idea. Did you know there is a font in Microsoft Word called "fiolex girls"? It is perfect for Valentine's day. Here is a close-up picture where you can see the font. We used a larger pink doily and mounted the smaller one on top.
Here is a shot of the finished product Hannah and I made. I tried using the panoramic setting to get the entire garland in this shot. I still haven't mastered this setting as you can see by the duplicate images in the mirror.
The whole quote is from Luke 10:27 :
"You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart; with all your soul; with all your strength; and with all your mind. And you shall love your neighbor as yourself."
Have a crafty day!
This is awesome! Exactly what I wanted to do as valentines this year, but didn't take the time to go look. I've got to be prepared next year.
