We are in the final days before Kate and Matt's wedding and since it is less than likely I will be posting much in the next week or two, I am devoting today's quicktakes to the wedding planning.
#1
I've been trying to think of some meaningful items for Kate to use for the traditional "old, new, borrowed and blue". For the old, I am going to have my mother's anniversary charm attached to her bouquet. There is a picture on this post .
#2
Something new: She has been wanting a new sterling silver crucifix. This will be a great reminder that as Jesus sacrificed his very life for us, so too, does marriage require sacrifice for the good of our spouse.
#3
Something borrowed: I am embarrassed to say my wedding gown was not preserved properly. Being only 22 at the time, I guess I didn't comprehend the importance of this detail. However, I am happy to report that my veil has preserved itself very nicely, no thanks to me. Kate is going to use it with some modifications. The reason this is borrowed is because I want it back so that if any of my other three daughters would like to borrow it for their own wedding someday, it will be ready for them.
#4
Something blue: When I married Dan, his mom gave me his baby charm. She'd had one for each of her children. It is a gold heart with blue baby booties. This will be attached to the bouquet along with my mother's charm .
#5
I need shoes. Tomorrow is the day... or else I will be wearing flip-flops! I doubt anyone would notice, since all eyes will be on the beautiful bride.
#6
Details, details, details. Not being a detail-oriented person by nature, my life has been relegated to lists and more lists...lest we froget any details!
#7
We are very excited that our dear friend, Father Conrad Osterhaut of the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal will be concelebrating the wedding Mass! He recently moved back to New York after a number of years in Albequerque. Yay!
I could probably post fourteen quicktakes concerning the wedding but I need to get tending to those details! I will try to post some pictures of things as we go along, but most likely I won't be back until after the 23rd!
Have a great weekend! And be sure to check out more quicktakes at Conversion Diary .
Love,
Dear Chris, I just wanted you to know that I have been praying for the sweet newlyweds and for the dear mom and dad who gave their daughter in marriage. :) I am sure you are exhausted today, but I am looking forward to the wedding posts!
