These are the pearls of wisdom my husband uttered to me yesterday, when I sheepishly suggested that with the terrible weather forecast for DC for this Friday's Annual March for Life, we consider staying home and doing a private family retreat day. Yes, I know he is right. Our experience thus far has shown us that whether we are trying to get a bunch of littles out the door for Mass; or giving our witness on Natural Family Planning to the engaged couples in pre-cana; or yes, attending the March for Life each year... the evil one really doesn't want us to go. He doesn't want any of us doing anything that might possibly bulid up the family and bring God's children closer to Him and will put up any and all roadblocks to prevent us from doing so.
So what's reluctant marcher to do? Well, I will spend today making sure we all have appropriate wet weather gear. I will pray alot. I will specifically invoke St. Michael the Archangel, who protects us from the Evil One all the time. I will offer my sufferings today and tomorrow for the unborn babies, as well as those already born who are considered not worthy of life... the elderly, disabled and terminally ill. They all have the right to a life of dignity according to God's plan, not ours. And I will ask anyone reading this to whisper a prayer for our group and all the other marchers who brave the elements to stand up for life.
And whether you can make it to Washington tomorrow or not, please offer the day as a day of penance for the unborn. As St. Paul taught, the Body of Christ is made up of many different parts, all working together for the Glory of God!
Have a beautiful day.
Amen and Amen! Praying for all witnessing to Life to have safe travel and smooth marching.
