While I am sure we are all praying for the many victims of the earthquake in
Haiti, many of us are looking for material ways to help as well. The Friar
Suppliers, who support the needs of the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal, also
support the Missionaries of Charity Orphanage in Haiti, as well a school there.
We received word from the Missionaries of Charity that they are OK, but so far
no word from the school. Please pray for their safety and well-being.
The Friar Suppliers ship supplies to Haiti through a shipping company in Queens
and have received word that this company can get supplies into a port not far
from Port-au-Prince. They are asking for any medical supplies. Monetary donations are also needed to cover the shipping costs. All the supplies in the world won't help if the money to ship them isn't
collected.
I know there are many, much larger organizations asking for donations, but be
assured that the donations sent through Friar Suppliers will go straight from
our hands to the Missionaries of Charity and to the people who are in need.
If you would like to help, you can send a tax-deductable donation with "Haiti" on the memo line, made out to "Friar Suppliers" and mail to:

Thanks and let us all keep the people of Haiti close in prayer in the coming
weeks and months!
