I printed out the Jesse Tree ornaments. I used glue stick to attach a piece of pink or purple paper to the back of each sheet to give them a more finished look. After I cut out the circles I covered themin contact paper with the hopeful thought that I may use them again next year. Finally , Thomas punched a hole in each ornament and we strung a piece of purple ribbon through each.
I found the trees I had in mind in the loft over our garage and we set up our Advent Prayer Table. We will add other items here, but it is not that big, so it easily gets overcrowded.
A reminder for the whole family. Prepare.
Sometimes we don't know what we are preparing for. An example is the pink and purple paper I've used for these projects. Last year I was in Big Lots (I sheepishly admit,I am a regular there) and they had packs of pink and purple papers for a dollar each. At the time I was just thinking they were girly colors and Hannah would use them up . Well, she didn't (yet) so now my girly papers have just found a new use as Advent paper! I had no idea all that time ago I was preparing for this Advent, but I guess I was!
I love the simplicity of this banner. Thomas and Hannah are getting way ahead of me on the decorating. I want to go slowly, and they are ready to put up the tree. This banner was something we worked on for a while today and it is an ADVENT decoration, not a Christmas decoration. So they still feel as if we've decorated and I still have time to prepare.
May we all prepare our hearts for the birth of our Lord!
