Burning the Candle at Both Ends

Just a funny story...

My brother and his wife have two young sons.  Let's just call them Bobby and Charlie.  One evening, after an exhausting day with two rambunctious boys, the parents asked if the boys would like to have a little game of hide and seek.  Of course, they sent the boys outside to hide first.  Immediately, they locked all the doors, drew the blinds and poured a much-deserved cocktail.  After about a half hour or so, they heard footsteps on the deck and saw two small silhouettes trying to peek in through the blinds.  Says Bobby to Charlie ' Heeeeey Charlie... I dont think they're looking for us!"

Flash forward a couple of years and for their overworked Mom's birthday I found this perfect card! Apparently, she and my brother are not alone!

 

 

Exciting Stuff!

A new door...

 

We have color!!! It's called "cricket" . It is the new Home Depot line of primer and color in one. We were able to go right over sheet rock in just two coats total. Truthfully it looked great after one coat, but the second coat was for touch-ups.

Well, I could wax poetically all afternoon about dimmer switches and outlet covers, but this is probably about all the excitement you can stand for now, so I'll stop there. Tune in one day very soon, when I will post my final picture including, rug, window treatments and shelving. Exciting stuff... don't miss it!

It is working...

Some of the more conservative talkers I listen to are saying the the phone calls, emails and letters from their constituents are having an impact on our representatives Washington.  I never considered myself much of an activist. Sure, I would occasionally sign an online petition if it was emailed to me, maybe make a phone call if I had time and remembered to do it.  To be honest, I have been very lazy in this area.  So, for anyone reading this who is like me, here is a link to a website  where you just type in your zipcode and up pops a listing of all your representatives... federal and state.  You can click on their names and go right to their homepages where you can contact them by email very easily.

No more excuses! The future of our country and our children is on the line!!!

Progress Continues

OK, so we are not quite done with the bedroom yet, but I am learning so much about myself through this project.  First and foremost, I am not as much of a trooper as I used to be! I like need to have four walls surrounding me when I sleep at night! With that in mind, you may understand why I prefer to sleep in a room that looks like this:

 

 

 

rather than in my nice, neat and tidy living room.  With teens coming and going at late hours, I just don't feel comfortable sleeping out in the open on the living room floor!  I realize this may sound snobbish, but that's just what it has come to around here!

Second, I can be a pretty big whiner and nag when I don't have four walls around me when I am sleeping, but I won't get into that again!

FInally, when I do have four walls surrounding me at night, I can be a very forgiving person and stop the whining and nagging, too!

Hope springs eternal... we have chosen paint colors, new bedding and almost have the window treatments nailed down, too. Of course, none of that happens until the spackling and sanding are done! But my perfectionist husband (I say that with nothing but love...he completes me!) promises he's done tonight! Thank goodness for his attention to the details ... it really looks great.

But it's all good, now that I have four walls surrounding me at night!
