I don't think I am the only one who was very excited to see our first big snow of the winter this past Friday. And it was only February 22! With winter showing itself so late this year, plus an unusually early Easter, I won't be surprised to see ski hats instead of Easter bonnets at Mass this Easter Sunday.
I couldn't resist bundling up my two littlest Friday for an early morning pull on the sled. It was still snowing, all was quiet and anyone who did see us greeted us with a happy smile. Late winter snow does that to people. I guess knowing the mess will be shortlived makes it easier to enjoy it while it's here.
We had fun on the sled, then the shoveling began. One good pass with the shovel was all we needed. Around eleven A.M. my little guy's Godfather picked up him and big brother for some real sledding on a nearby hill. Here is a truly wonderful friend who took not only my two boys, but his two sons, and his other Godson with his older brother! All in all six boys and one very courageous Godfather! We are blessed to have him in our lives! I can only imagine once everyone was safely delivered home there may have been some chagrin over the Lenten sacrifice of NO BEER!
