FOR TODAY January 19, 2009
Outside My Window... It is still very dark and quiet out there. Twenty-one degrees feels like a heat wave after single digits last week!
I am thinking... today I will finally get to see Ben run in a winter track meet. Haven’t been able to make it to one yet this season!
I am thankful for... our toasty woodstove getting us through the cold snap!
From the kitchen… slow roasted chicken tonight with mashed potatoes and salad. I would love to bake some bread today, but that may not be in the picture
I am wearing... not warm enough p.j.’s
I am creating... ideas for my husband to implement around the house. The most pressing one is the entryway. It needs a facelift from its 1980’s cutesy country look. If we can get that done soon, I will be satisfied for a while.
I am going... to Ben’s track meet today and that’s it. I want to be home for a change!
I am reading... still on my John Holt book. Also, I got that free copy of the English translation of The Rule of St. Benedict from here . Really, reading a page or two a night gives me so much to work on in my life, I doubt I will ever get through this book!
I am hoping... for a bit of a break in the cold weather so I can get on a schedule taking our newest addition to the family on regular walks.
I am hearing... our newest addition stirring in his crate. I’d better get ready to brave the cold!
Around the house... I’ve ignored a few essential housekeeping chores, so hopefully with a day off from school today I can do some catching up
One of my favorite things... when my teens seek out each others’ company instead of outside friends. Saturday night Jessie and Ben accompanied each other to the play at our local high school. Last night, Ben invited Kate to watch the first episode of Dr. Who. He got the whole series on DVD for Christmas and has been waiting for someone to watch with him.
A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week: pre-cana, basketball, ice skating, ballet are non-negotiable. I could really use a haircut so I would love to squeeze that in!
Here is picture thought I am sharing...
Introducing... Luke. Our newest addition! He is a four-month-old hound mix (read as “Mutt”) who joined us last Friday. Five of my six children were campaigning for a dog for quite some time. After a heart-breaking dog experience two years ago, I was finally ready to try again. So far this is working out. I have a better picture, but for some reason, instead of red-eyes which can be easily corrected with my photo editor, Luke came out with green eyes and I can’t fix them, no matter what I try. Anyway, I think his cuteness still come through!
