For our children as they come to the end of another school year.. that they may not lose their motivation to succeed in their studies!
for our Church... that the mistakes of her past may continue to be corrected and learned from and that all measures may continue be taken to prevent further damage to the good work that our Church does throughout the world.

This song was performed at Ryan Barrett's funeral. To my untrained ear, it sounded even more beautiful than this. But this version does come close to what we heard on Wednesday. As you listen, please whisper a little prayer for Ryan's soul and for healing for his family.
This morning my four oldest children got up at the insane hour of 3AM and took the train into Manhattan to see Jason Mraz perform on the Today show. I don't usually watch the Today Show, but I love the fact that in the summer, they feature popular performers who perform outdoors in Rockefellar Center... free to the public. It warms this mother's heart that my kids, really young adults, planned and carried out this little field trip on their own. So for all you moms of bickering children, take heart! They may actually grow up and like each other. I think mine just might. What I like about Jason Mraz is his music seems to send a very positive message... at least the music I've heard. It is really upbeat and just makes me want to smile. And so I share this you tube video of today's performance:
You can also hear one of his most popular songs on this wildly popular post from this past May.
This past Saturday night Dan and I and a couple of our dear friends went into Manhattan to attend a taping of the radio show "A Prairie Home Companion" with Garrison Keillor. Dan and I are getting to be something of a couple of Garrison Keillor groupies. We just really enjoy the show, so we keep going back. His Christmas tapings are always really special. And one of the best things about it is the unexpected guests he has. You never know until you read the poster in the lobby who will be joining the cast for that evening's taping. This particular show had Elvis Costello (cool) and Tom Rush (also cool). Tom Rush sang the song in this video, among several others, and it still has me cracking up. It has over 3.75 million hits on YouTube! If you are over a "certain age" listen, and you'll see why! Enjoy!
With a Grateful Heart We Thank the Lord
